Westwood Middle School basketball kept its show on the road on Tuesday, October 29, for a pair of conference games against Eastside Middle.

Both the girls' and boys' teams continued their impressive debuts in the Warren County Athletic Conference with two double-digit wins. The Lady Rockets took off for a 35-8 win and the Rockets followed with a 25-14 victory.

In the girls' game, Westwood held Eastside to two first-half points while putting up 18 themselves. Another 17 points in the third and fourth quarters secured the blowout win for the Lady Rockets.

Bryleigh Gray led the team's offensive effort with eight points. Princess Penaloza and Allie Sullivan both brought in five points each. Kailee Rossman, Emily Holmes and Mattalyn Gomey all brought in four points each. Remi Benjamin and Keena Seivers both recorded two points. Audri Patton knocked in a free throw in the fourth quarter for one point.

In the boys' game, Westwood trailed Eastside 8-5 after the first quarter. The Rocket offense responded in the second quarter with 10 points, while holding Eastside scoreless to lead 15-8 at halftime.

16 second-half points helped secure a win for the boys, while the Rocket defense again did not give a point in the third quarter and held Eastside to six points in the fourth.

"Great night defensively. We played tough and kicked down a really good team," Coach Will Pannell said. "Proud of the effort. Offensive execution was much improved and we got good shots all night."

Jayden Carter and Cayden Trail carried the bulk of the team's scoring with 12 points each. Caiden Warren notched a free throw in the first quarter for one point.
