Westwood Middle School basketball continued its road tour to start the season on Monday, November 4, with a trip to Irving College. Both the Lady Rockets and Rockets remained undefeated in their new conference with a pair of wins.

The girls' team won its matchup 32-15 and the boys followed with a 55-36 victory.

In the girls' game, Westwood put up six points while holding Irving College scoreless. The Lady Rockets finished the first half up 17-4.

In the second half, Irving College showed improvement on offense, but Westwood outshot them 15-11 to win by double digits.

Kailee Rossman led the way with eight points. Bryleigh Gray followed right behind at seven. Allie Sullivan finished the night with five points, just ahead of Remi Benjamin's four. Princess Penaloza recorded three points. Keena Seivers and Kadence Medley both netted two points. Leonor Moreno hit one free throw for one point.

In the high-scoring boys' game, the Rockets took a slim 11-10 lead after the first quarter. This expanded to a 27-17 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Westwood outscored Irving College 30-11 to secure the win. Only two of Irving College's second-half points came in the fourth quarter off a single field goal.

"Great night. We worked our scheme offensively and the pressure was great," Coach Will Pannell said. "Not a perfect night. Lots to improve upon but we are getting better each night. Proud of the group. They are playing together and not forcing things."

Jayden Carter was a force for the Rockets, taking off for 36 points. Cayden Trail followed with 11. Skyler Stinson recorded four. Blake Hillis and Jaiden Warren added two points each.
