Red Raiders complete the sweep over South Franklin

Cole Pippenger prepares to challenge the South Franklin defender in the paint.

The Coffee County Middle School basketball team traveled to South Franklin on Oct. 29 looking to match the landslide victory that the Lady Raiders had a few minutes prior. Big man Evan Kirby was a force for the Red Raiders as Kirby was able to establish himself in the paint early with six points and a multitude of blocks. Kirby was joined by Brady Wright, Brennan Young, Cole Pippenger, and Courtland Farrar who scored five, four, and two points respectively. The scoring frenzy allowed the Red Raiders to jump ahead to a 19-8 lead in going into the second quarter.

The Red Raiders slowed a bit in the second quarter with a six point scoring attack in the quarter, but the Red Raiders quickly seized the momentum in the second half with a quick five points.

Kirby finished the night with 18 points as he led his team to a 55-38 victory. The Red Raiders next play on Nov. 2 at CMS.
