The Coffee County golf team made the trip to Pebble Creek Golf Club in Fayetteville for a boys’ and girls’ nine-hole tri-match against Lincoln County and Shelbyville Central Thursday.

Both the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders came home with first-place finishes, with the boys’ team posting a score of 152 and the girls’ team finishing with a score of 93.

Lincoln County’s boys’ and girls’ teams both followed in second place with scores of 174 and 110, respectively. Shelbyville rounded it out with a 176 for the boys’ team and a 122 for the girls’ team.

Levi Rossman led the way for the Coffee County boys’ team with a score of 34. Carter Bell followed with a 36. Jaxon Phillips added a 39, with Rylan Melson rounding out the Red Raiders’ top four scorers with a 43.

On the girls’ side, Karaline Matthews shot a team-high 45. Up next was Karsyn Riddle with a 48.

Westwood 9, Fayetteville 0

The Lady Rockets closed out their week with a dominant home win Thursday evening.

Abigail Tidwell, Raegan Sample and Italia Orpineda all had two goals each. Lois Wilcox, Wynnslee Smartt and Victoria Munoz each had one goal.

Westwood remains at home to host Eagleville at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Westwood splits with Moore County, Unity

The Lady Rockets returned home from Lynchburg with a split of their tri-match Thursday evening.

Opening up against Moore County, Westwood took down the host team 2-1. After falling 25-13 in the first set, the Lady Rockets bounced back with a 25-13 win in the second set before sealing the match with a 15-13 victory in the third set.

The Lady Rockets were unable to follow this up against Unity, losing 2-0 by set scores of 25-11 and 25-22.

Westwood (2-2) returns home to host South Franklin at 5 p.m. Monday.
