PREP ROUNDUP: CHS golf takes down Shelbyville

The Coffee County golf team welcomed Shelbyville Central to WillowBrook Golf Club for a boys’ and girls’ matchup Tuesday.

Both the Red Raiders and Lady Raiders took care of business and secured home wins.

The Coffee County boys’ A team took the top spot with a score of 313, with the Red Raider boys’ B team following at 330. Shelbyville’s boys’ team finished with a score 343.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Raiders shot a 181 to finish ahead of Shelbyville’s 237.

Coffee County’s boys’ A team was led by Jaxon Phillips with a round of 75. Rylan Melson followed with a 78. Levi Rossman and Carter Bell both finished with scores of 80 to round out the team’s scoring.

The B team was led by Jayden Melton with an 80. Up next was Dax Carney with an 82 to finish just ahead of Riley Keele with an 83. Ben Crabtree came away with an 85.

The Lady Raiders were led by Karaline Matthews with an 81. Karsyn Riddle finished the day with a 100 to complete the team’s score.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS’ SOCCER

Westwood 8, PCA 0

The Lady Rockets kept their undefeated start to the season in check with shutout road victory Tuesday.

Raegan Sample led the way with three goals to complete the hat trick. Ashlyn Allen followed with two. Italia Orpineda, Abigail Tidwell and Wynnslee Smartt each had one goal.

Westwood returns home to host Huntland at 6 p.m. Thursday.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Harris 32, Coffee County 6

Coming off a win against Lewisburg the week before, the Red Raiders traveled to Shelbyville to take on Harris for their week 4 matchup Tuesday evening.

Coffee County was unable to string together back-to-back wins and returned home with a loss.

Coffee County (1-3) welcomes EO Coffman for its homecoming game as well as its eight grade night Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

Coffee County 1, Warren County 0

The Coffee County Middle School girls’ soccer team added another one to the win column Monday evening.

Traveling to Warren County, the Lady Raiders returned home with a 1-0 victory on a goal from Emma Toneff.

MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL

WMS splits Flintville tri-match

The Westwood volleyball team made the trip to Flintville for a pair of matches Monday. Opening the evening against South Lincoln, the Lady Rockets fell 2-1, winning the first set 25-23 but losing the next two by scores of 25-12 and 15-13.

Westwood bounced back in its second match against Flintville, winning 2-0 by set scores of 25-12 and 25-17.

Westwood returns to the road to take on Fayetteville at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.
