If you notice some unusual tremors outside of the Manchester Arts Center the night of Oct. 3, have no fear.

It’s the upbeat and energetic return of Shake, Rattle and Roll to the Manchester stage.

The show features music from the 50s and 60s and offers a mix of high energy rock songs and slower ballads, all guaranteed to get you off of your feet.

Shake, Rattle and Roll features Daxton Patrick, Justin Foster, Jacob Miller and Slade Moore joining forces to bring the songs everyone knows and loves to life again.

The group started after the four starred together in a production of Million Dollar Quartet at the Cannon County Arts Center. That show tells the story of Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins coming together for a night at Sun Studios in Memphis.

“From there we were like let’s do another show at the Arts Center in Cannon County and then it turned into another show and another show and now we just tour around the estate and out of state,” explained Patrick. “We play more 50s and 60s than just those artists. We do Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, a little Fats Domino. We try to hit it all.”

“We represent the artists, but we’re not like trying to be a carbon copy.”

The group has toured all over the state of Tennessee and to other states like Kentucky and Indiana and has a show booked in Georgia for next year.

Foster explains that the show stems from an affinity for the music of that era.

“I always had a thing for 50s and 60s music specifically. Everybody loves Elvis, and I grew up in a family that loves Elvis,” he said. “It’s kind of what got me into music. I always wanted to write that type of music.”

“For me, in high school where we had different Beta Club talents and the one that really stuck and we won Nationals with was all 50s and 60s music like “Hound Dog” and “Johnny B. Goode” and stuff like that, and then from there, that’s when (Beta Sponsor) Darryl Deason got us all together and started getting the pieces together. It was years in the making,” added Patrick.

“After that, we grew so close as friends and everybody loved it so much, so we decided to keep doing it. We like playing it and we like hanging out with one another, let’s do it again, and then it turned into more and more and it was almost like an addiction.”

Patrick explained that the group enjoys giving the music to an audience that maybe doesn’t get it anymore or doesn’t get it with the level of energy Shake, Rattle and Roll does with Patrick comparing it to old Ed Sullivan tapings.

“We give it that full energy doing gimmicks and tricks. It’s not just playing the music. It’s performing,” he said.

The audience can expect to see Patrick jumping on top of the piano, Miller playing guitar behind his head, Moore playing drums behind his back and Foster going into the audience.

“It’s interactive for sure because Justin loves to get in the middle of the crowd and walk through the aisles and sing to everybody,” explained Patrick. “We don’t let the stage separate us.”

“I went down into the audience one time, and one of the ladies who was probably in her 90s gave me a big ol’ kiss,” added Foster. “I went with it and put it right back on her.”

Audience members are also encouraged to participate and be active during the show. The group says they shouldn’t be afraid to get up and move or yell things from the audience.

“Last show, I had a lady yell that if she were 50 years younger, then she’d give my girlfriend a run for her money, and the whole crowd erupted, so we like people to be as interactive as we are,” said Foster.

“They will be just as much a part of the show as we are,” added Patrick. “We make it more intimate in that sense.”

Shake, Rattle and Roll is family friendly with the group encouraging “everyone from 1-100” to come. The show starts at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6.
