Coffee County volleyball’s 2026 season came to an end Tuesday evening.
Traveling to Franklin High School to open region tournament play against the Class 3A District 10 champion Lady Admirals, the District 9 runners-up Lady Raiders fell in three sets to close out their postseason.
“It’s been an awesome season. Great senior leadership. Couldn’t ask for a better senior group,” Coffee County coach Jon Spears said. “They played with heart all year, battled and everything. It wasn’t how we wanted to end it, but we’re just happy to be here. The girls played great all the way through the season, always had that don’t give up attitude and battled the whole time, so I am super proud. I love this bunch.”
Franklin jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first set before Coffee County got on the board and continued to push ahead from there. The Lady Admirals went on to hold the Lady Raiders to five more points on the way to winning the set 25-6 to take a 1-0 match lead.
Coffee County followed this up by tying Franklin 2-2 early in the second set before the Lady Admirals once again built up a larger lead. The Lady Raiders were able to keep it closer this time around but lost 25-15 to fall into a 2-0 hole.
Franklin followed this up with another dominant showing in the third set, winning it 25-4 to bring Coffee County’s season to a close.
Following the match, senior Danni Hillis was selected to represent Coffee County on the all-region team.
The result put the Lady Raiders’ final record on the season at 22-16 overall. This included two district tournament wins the week before, including a 3-2 victory over No. 1 seed Lawrence County in the district tournament semifinals on Thursday to qualify for the region tournament as a district finalist.
“I’m looking forward to the group we have returning and adding some of the younger kids coming in,” Spears said. “I think we’ll be back.”
