Coffee County football was back in action for its second-to-last game of the 2026 regular season Friday night.
Hosting Ravenwood for a Class 6A Region 6 matchup, the Red Raiders were able to keep it close early on before the Raptors took off late in the first half to win 42-7.
Ravenwood got on the board late in the first quarter, coming away with an interception of Coffee County quarterback Caleb Hill and reaching the end zone on the following drive.
Still trailing by a touchdown to start the second quarter, the Red Raiders got to around midfield before their possession stalled out.
Lined up to punt on 4th and 7, Coffee County instead put the ball in the hands of Matthew White to attempt the fake. White proceeded to run the ball 52 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 with 10:12 remaining in the half.
The Raptors did not let it stay tied for long, ending their next drive with the go-ahead touchdown with 7:33 on the clock. Ravenwood continued to push ahead from there as the second quarter continued, scoring at the 4:42 mark, the 2:34 mark and the 34-second mark to ultimately go into halftime up 35-7.
The Raptors went on to add one more touchdown late in the third quarter on a 27-yard run to the end zone on 4th down, pushing their lead up to 42-7.
Coffee County was unable to cut back into the game any further and went on to finish the game down by 35 points.
With the loss, Coffee County dropped to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in region play. The result was the Red Raiders’ sixth straight in the loss column, dating back to their 26-20 week 4 loss to Franklin on Sept. 11.
Coffee County will get one more chance at a region opponent in the final week of the regular season when it welcomes Shelbyville Central to Carden-Jarrell Field Friday night. The Golden Eagles come into the game at 1-8 overall and 0-5 within the region as well, with their only win of the season coming week 1 in a 13-10 double-overtime victory over Tullahoma on Aug. 21.
Kickoff of Friday’s game is set for 7 p.m.
