Coffee County girls’ soccer was back on its home turf at Raider Academy Thursday night, welcoming Tullahoma for the latest edition of the annual Coffee Cup game.

A close contest for most of both halves, the Lady Cats were able to separate themselves late on the way to handing the Lady Raiders a 3-0 shutout loss in the rivalry matchup. The result also dropped Coffee County to 0-2 on the season following its 3-2 home loss to Giles County Tuesday night.

Scoreless through the first 20 minutes of play, Tullahoma was able to get on the board with 19:54 left in the first half.

Still trailing 1-0 at the break, Coffee County kept it a one-score game through the first 30 minutes of the second half, coming up just short on a few game-tying scoring opportunities.

Tullahoma was ultimately able to add to its lead with less than 10 minutes on the clock, scoring with 8:36 left to play to make it a 2-0 game. The Lady Cats followed this up with one more goal before time expired, scoring again with 2:09 remaining to bring the game to what would be its final score.

Coffee County will travel to Fayetteville to open Class 3A District 6 play against Lincoln County Monday evening. Start time is set 6:30 p.m.
