The Coffee County volleyball team opened its week with a home victory Monday evening.

Hosting Warren County, the Lady Raiders came out on top for a 3-1 win at Joe Frank Patch Gymnasium.

Coffee County opened it up with a pair of 25-14 wins in the first and second sets to take a 2-0 match lead. The two teams went the distance in the third set, with Warren County coming out on top 27-25 to cut Coffee County’s lead to 2-1.

The Lady Raiders went on to close out the match in the fourth set, winning it 25-16 to complete the victory.

Andon Selvog, Hayleigh Harris and Jenslee Nogodula led the team in aces with three each. Isabelle Saner and Blaine Weaver both had two aces each.

Harris and Nogodula shared the top spot for digs with 20 each. Danni Hillis followed with 15 to finish just ahead of Selvog with 13. Saner came away with eight digs. Cara Newlin and Addy Wild both added three digs each. Weaver was credited with two. Cailey Sturgill and Paisley Dyer each had one dig.

Harris led the way in kills with 15. Up next was Hillis with eight. Sturgill was credited with four kills. Newlin and Daisy Kapise both finished with two each. Dyer, Nogodula and Wild each had one kill.

Dyer was the team’s blocks leader with four on the match. Wild followed with two. Hillis, Newlin and Sturgill had one block each.

Selvog led the team in assists with 15. Saner added 10. Nogodula recorded four assists. Weaver notched two. Newlin had one assist.

Coffee County (6-4, 1-1 district) resumes Class 3A District 9 play on the road against Columbia Central Thursday. Start time is set for 6 p.m.

Lady Raiders go 4-3 at Cougar Classic

Coffee County traveled to Murfreesboro for its first tournament of the season Saturday. Taking part in the Cougar Classic at Middle Tennessee Christian School, the Lady Raiders finished the day with a winning record, going 4-3 against their competition.

Coffee County opened tournament play with a 2-1 victory over Harpeth Hall, falling 28-26 in the first set before bouncing back to take the next two sets by scores of 25-20 and 15-12.

The Lady Raiders were unable to follow this up in their next match against Donelson Christian Academy, falling 2-0 by set scores of 25-19 and 25-16.

Coffee County went on to be swept twice more, first in a loss to Eagleville by set scores of 25-18 and 25-15. Against Middle Tennessee Christian, the Lady Raiders lost by scores of 25-16 and 25-12.

Coffee County began to bounce back in its next match against Summertown. After falling 25-22 in the first set, the Lady Raiders tied it up with a 25-22 win in the second set before taking the third set 15-12 to complete the 2-1 victory.

Coffee County went on to sweep its match against Silverdale, coming out for tight set wins of 25-23 and 26-24 to win 2-0. Closing out the tournament with a rematch against Middle Tennessee Christian, the Lady Raiders swept the Lady Cougars in a pair of 25-22 set victories to win 2-0 this time around.
