Coffee County volleyball got back on track Thursday evening.

Traveling to Shelbyville Central for a Class 3A District 9 match, the Lady Raiders bounced back from Tuesday’s district loss at Lawrence County with a straight-set, 3-0 match victory over the Golden Eaglettes.

The two teams got off to a close start in the first set, with Coffee County leading 8-6 early. The Lady Raiders began to separate themselves as the set continued, ultimately winning it 25-15 to take a 1-0 lead.

Coffee County and Shelbyville continued to keep it close in the second set, but the Lady Raiders were able to come out on top 28-26 to go up by two.

The Golden Eaglettes kept it competitive in the third set as well, but Coffee County was able to get it done with a match-sealing 25-21 victory.

Danni Hillis led the team in aces with five. Jenslee Nogodula had one ace.

Hillis also led the way in digs with 12. Nogodula followed with 10. Hayleigh Harris added seven digs, finishing just ahead of Isabelle Saner with six. Andon Selvog was credited with five digs, with Cailey Sturgill coming right behind with four. Blaine Weaver and Addy Wild both picked up two digs each. Cara Newlin and Genna Sadler each had one.

Harris took the top spot for kills with 14. Up next was Wild with five. Hillis came away with four kills. Newlin and Sturgill both had three each. Selvog, Saner and Paisley Dyer each had one kill.

Wild was the team’s blocks leader, finishing the match with three. Sturgill and Dyer added two each. Harris had one block.

Selvog and Saner led the team in assists with 12 each over the course of the match. Nogodula followed with four. Newlin had one assist.

Coffee County (11-6, 5-2 district) returns home for a district match against Lincoln County Tuesday. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
