If you ever wondered who was responsible for all of the health campaigns around the school, who was responsible for all the events that support and encourage good health. To put it simply, it was the THAC council.
You may be wondering what THAC is, or what exactly they do? THAC is the abbreviation for the Teen Health Advisory Council. The teen health council recruits students from different backgrounds to help coach and educate their peers on the importance of taking care of their health. They spread awareness of issues pertaining to physical and mental health.
The teen health council campaigns throughout the year and advises the student body about their health. In today’s modern age, mental health is a huge issue with our youth, and THAC sends out coping mechanisms to ensure that students can find healthier ways to deal with tough emotions.
With the current state of the world, many students are struggling with their mental health every day. Whether it is an issue at home, at school, or something you see on social media, THAC is easily accessible. It is important to not neglect your health even when you are struggling.
In our age, we must be educated on the dangers of bad health and the ways we can take better care of ourselves. This applies to both mental and physical health. Rest when you need it; do not push beyond your limits unless you are capable. It can be hard to do these things, but healthy habits are paramount.
These healthy habits may include getting rest when needed, eating more even if you struggle to bring yourself to, and cleaning up your space to give yourself a clear peace of mind. These acts may seem minor, but they leave lasting impacts. These are habits the Teen Council is trying to encourage.
The Teen Health Council members are well-versed in these issues and know the importance of tending to your health. With all this said, THAC can’t do this without your support. THAC runs activities, campaigns, and more, but they must have support from the student body. This support can be participation or spreading the word. THAC wants you to be the person who motivates others to participate. The Teen Health Council has one mission: to give back to the community and leave a lasting impact.
We must show them support too. High school is a pivotal moment in our lives; we must make the most of it by exercising good habits.
Throughout the year, the Teen Health Advisory Council will have projects pertaining to health. While these projects are still up for debate, they will continue to provide hygiene bags for students. Remember, it is not embarrassing to need help. We are in this together. This is why we have the Teen Health Advisory Council.
