Property Assessor to complete reappraisal

Coffee County’s Property Assessor’s Office will complete the next four-year reappraisal cycle this year as required by the state.
This reassessment of property values are completed in continuous four year cycles that use on-site review of real property in the county over the first three years, and then a revaluation of those during the fourth.
Property Assessor Elissa Fletcher said the reassessments have been on four year schedules since 1994.
She explained during the April 14 County Commission meeting that she has requested a certified tax rate from the state.
“Property values go up every four years. The certified tax rate is lowered every four years to offset that increase,” she said.
Both land and improvements will be reviewed on every parcel using aerial photography and onsite inspections. Changes to parcels including remodeling and new structures will be keyed in the current file to maintain fairness among all property owners.
