Government employee charged with theft

A judicial commissioner has been bound over to the grand jury on theft charges for allegedly lying on her time card.
The suspect, Catrina McGee Lester, 44, is charged with theft over $1,000 for a pair of incidents where she overinflated the actual hours she worked, thereby defrauding the county of around $1,600 in ill-gotten pay.
Sheriff’s Investigator David Brandon Reed wrote on the warrant against Lester that she had “knowingly put an unworked amount of time on her Coffee County Government time sheet”.
Ms. Lester not only did this during one pay period but also during two pay periods,” he alleges, noting the incidents happened in December 2025 and January 2026. “I learned that a total of only 29 hours was worked by Ms. Lester, but 80 hours were put on the time sheet. This caused the Coffee County Government to overpay her by roughly $1,600.”
