Press Release: TDOT announces bridge closure and detour for SR 127

Drivers traveling on SR 127 in Coffee County should be aware of upcoming roadway activities that will impact traffic. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will close the bridge on State Route 127 (Hillsboro Viola Road) at LM 9.76 in Coffee County beginning Monday, October 12, 2026, to allow contract crews to perform a full bridge replacement.

The $5.13 million project, delivered by Jones Bros. Contractors, LLC, will replace two bridges on State Route 127 over Bradley Creek at LM 6.21 and LM 9.76, along with associated grading, drainage, and paving work. The improvements cover 0.377 miles and are scheduled for completion by Summer 2028.

During the initial phase of work, motorists will see utility relocation, stream relocation, and staging operations. Once preparatory work is complete, crews will remove the existing bridge and build a new structure in its place. A signed detour will be in place for the duration of the closure, which will remain in effect through Summer 2027.
