Coffee County opened its postseason slate with a comeback win last Saturday night.
Taking on Lincoln County in the district tournament quarterfinals, the Red Raiders took control in the second half on the way to a 2-1 victory at Raider Academy. The win also gave Coffee County a win on its Senior Night, which was rescheduled to Saturday following the cancellation of the team’s April 28 game against Tullahoma due to weather.
Scoreless through the first 20 minutes, Lincoln County got on the board at the 17:59 mark and remained ahead 1-0 through the end of the first half.
With the Red Raiders still trailing by a goal a little over eight minutes into the second, Joan Deanda got in position for a corner kick and sent the ball into the net for the equalizer. Not long after, Roods-Bendy Charimond followed up with the go-ahead goal at the 28:50 mark to put Coffee County in front.
The Red Raider defense continued to contain Lincoln County through the game’s remainder, with keeper Angelo Pecina keeping the Falcons out of the net until time expired.
