The Coffee County girls’ soccer team made the trip up to McMinnville for a Class 3A District 6 battle Tuesday night.

Taking on Warren County, the Lady Raiders kept it within reach but were held scoreless on the way to a 2-0 loss.

The two teams were locked in a scoreless stalemate for much of the first half. After almost 25 minutes of play, Warren County was able to get one into the net with 16:08 left until the break. The Lady Pioneers added to their lead around 10 minutes later, sending another shot in at the 6:18 mark to ultimately send Coffee County into halftime trailing by two.

The Lady Raider defense and keeper Kayda Ferrell kept Warren County out of the net over the course of the second half to keep Coffee County in the game, but the Lady Pioneers were able to do the same thing on the other end of the field as well. One of Coffee County’s best chances at cutting the Warren County lead to one goal came with around 12:30 left to play, but the shot was negated due to an offsides call.

The Lady Raiders continued to keep it close over the game’s remainder, but finished down by two on the way to the loss.

Coffee County (3-5-1, 1-1 district) returns home to host Franklin County for another district matchup Monday evening. The Lady Raiders presently sit in second place in the district standings behind Warren County at 3-0. Franklin County is currently in third place with an 0-1 record.
