A Loudon man, who may or may not have brandished a knife during a fight, was arrested in Sweetwater March 29.

Sweetwater Police Officer Maddox Johnson said he went to the Local Market on Main Street on a call of a fight involving a knife. He said when he arrived the man allegedly with a knife was trying to leave, but other officers blocked him from leaving.

Johnson said he told the man, identified as Kevin Olvera, to get out of the truck and get on the ground and he did. At that time, Johnson handcuffed him and found a fixed knife blade in a sheaf on his right hip.

Johnson then talked to the alleged victim, who was riding a motorcycle, who said Olvera turned on his left signal but started swinging out like he was going right, then turned left in front of the bike.

The bike rider said he revved his engine at the truck and threw up his arms and Olvera flipped him off, started cursing and told the bike rider to follow him.

The rider followed him to the Local Market parking lot where a verbal altercation ensued and Olvera lifted his shirt to show the knife and said he would call some friends. Witnesses corroborated this story.

Johnson said when he tried to talk to Olvera, he said he wouldn’t speak without a lawyer.

Olvera, Thompson Circle, Loudon, was charged with aggravated assault.
