PREP ROUNDUP: CHS girls’ soccer blanks Middle Tennessee Christian

Make it three in a row for Coffee County girls’ soccer.

Hosting Middle Tennessee Christian after a pair of wins earlier in the week, the Lady Raiders dominated on the way to a 9-0 victory Thursday evening.

Coffee County got it started with four goals in the first half. Scorers included Lilly Matherne, Bailey Barsenas, Stephanie Crumley and Lexxi Van Zandenburgen.

The Lady Raiders went on to quickly add five more in the second half, ending the game via mercy rule with 23 minutes remaining. Both Barsenas and Matherne added two more goals each to give both players a hat trick on the night. Abigail Bellamy followed with a goal of her own to bring the game to its conclusion.

Coffee County travels to Cascade Thursday for a 6 p.m. matchup.

Middle School Volleyball

Westwood takes down Cannon

One day after a 2-0 road win over Cascade, the Westwood Middle School volleyball team returned home to host Cannon County for its 8th Grade Night Thursday.

The Lady Rockets picked up another 2-0 win, coming out on top 25-5 and 25-12.

The Westwood JV team lost both its Wednesday and Thursday matches by scores of 2-0.

Westwood remains at home to host Community at 5 p.m. this evening.

CCMS beats North Franklin

The Coffee County Middle School volleyball team got back in action with a 2-0 home win over North Franklin Thursday night. The Lady Raider JV team also won 2-0.

Coffee County remains at home to face Tullahoma at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Wednesday results

CHS girls’ golf takes first, boys take third at Bear Trace Invitational

The Coffee County golf team traveled to the Bear Trace at Tims Ford State Park to take part in the Bear Trace Invitational Wednesday.

The Lady Raiders took the top spot in their division, posting a 202 to best Warren County’s 206, Franklin County’s 228 and Lincoln County’s 244. The Red Raiders took third place out of six teams in the boys’ division with a 314, finishing behind Lawrence County’s 309 and Tullahoma’s 310. Remaining boys’ team scores included a 339 for Warren County, a 365 for Franklin County and a 412 for Lincoln County.

Individual girls’ scores included a 99 for Karsyn Riddle, which was good enough to share the top spot on the day with Warren County’s Lucy Mulligan. Karaline Matthews added a 103.

On the boys’ side, Noah Costello led Coffee County with a 74, which was good enough to tie for second-place individually with Tullahoma’s Alex Miller and Brody Fulmer. Jaxon Phillips followed with a 75, securing third place in the individual standings as well. Levi Rossman carded an 82. Jack Stowe followed with an 83. Lawrence County’s Dalton McCrawley took the individual top spot with a score of 73.

Coffee County returns home to WillowBrook Golf Club to host Columbia and Marion County Monday afternoon. Tee times are set for 1 p.m.
