The Coffee County golf team returned to the Bear Trace at Tim’s Ford Monday to take part in the Region 4-AA tournament.

As a team, the Red Raiders finished fourth out of six schools in the boys’ competition, posting a score of 304 on the day.

Individually, Coffee County’s Landon Collins led the way by shooting a 71, which was low enough to qualify for next week’s TSSAA State Tournament.

Other Coffee County scores included a 73 for Jack Stowe, a 77 for Noah Costello and a pair of 83s for Jaxon Phillips and Levi Rossman. Only one of Phillips and Rossman’s rounds counted toward the team score of 304.

Brentwood took the top spot in the boys’ team competition, finishing with a 281 on the day. Page came in second with a 290, followed by Centennial in third with a 298. Tullahoma finished in fifth with a 317. Lawrence County rounded it out with a sixth-place 328.

Individual boys’ results also included first place for Centennial’s Hudson Odom with a 66, second place for Brentwood’s Luke Purifoy with a 68, third place for Brentwood’s Tripp Goodrich with a 69 and fourth place for Independence’s Ben Blackburn with a 70 to finish one stroke ahead of Collins.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Raiders posted a team score of 223 to finish in fifth place out of six teams.

Individual girls’ scores for Coffee County included a 109 for Karaline Matthews and a pair of 114s for Karsyn Riddle and Ella Arnold. Like the boys’ team score, only one of Riddle and Arnold’s scores counted toward the team total.

Other girls’ team results included first place for Page with a 152, second for Ravenwood with a 160, third for Summit with a 165, fourth for Warren County with a 204 and sixth for Lincoln County with a 241.

Page’s Brooke Bennett took first place as an individual with a round of 74. She was followed by Ravenwood’s Annabelle Walton in second with a 76 and Page’s Shashe Ekker in third with a 78.

The TSSAA State Tournament will be held at Sevierville Golf Club next Thursday and Friday, Oct. 9-10.
