A Trio of Champions

The Manchester Youth Baseball League crowned three more champions on Monday and Tuesday, with Carmean Family Dental taking first in the 6U Tournament, West Tree Service claiming the 10U Championship and Wix Construction collecting the 8U title.
6U Championship
The Carmean Family Dental Royals had no problems scoring runs on their way to the 6U Tournament Championship.
In the semifinals on Friday, June 27, the Royals beat the Coffee County Fencing Twins by a score of 17-5, punching their ticket to the Championship Game against the C&G Sheet Metal Yankees. The Yankees also won their semifinal game by double digits, defeating the Manchester Tire and Brake Tigers 18-4.
Both teams were more than capable of using their bats effectively, but in the 6U Championship Game on Monday, June 30, it was the Royals who would prevail, dowing the Yankees 16-6 in a five-inning contest.
Carmean Family Dental also placed first in the regular season standings ahead of C&G Sheet Metal.
10U Championship
The West Tree Service Marlins may have placed second in the 10U Regular Season, but in the City Tournament, they proved to be the class of the league.
After beating the H&S Mechanical Padres in the Semifinals on Thursday, June 26, the Marlins set their sights on the Championship Game, where they would match up against the Rays of G.H. Concrete. The Rays, who finished fifth in the regular season, upset the No. 1 Gilday Construction Orioles in their semifinal game.
The 10U Championship on June 30 proved to be a one-sided affair, as the Marlins dispatched the Rays 18-4 in just three innings of play.
8U Championship
The 8U Championship was a battle between two offensive juggernauts.
Entering the tournament, the Carmean Family Dental Blue Jays had placed first in the regular season while the Wix Construction Red Sox placed second.
In the semifinals on June 30, the Blue Jays cruised past the Rose Hill Braves 14-1 and the Red Sox grounded the Cardinals 17-2, setting up a Championship game between two high powered offenses on July 1.
Wix Construction looked to be running away with the championship in the early going, building a 13-1 lead through two and a half innings of play, but by the end of the fourth, Carmean came all the way back to tie the score at 13-13.
Seeing their lead slip away, the Red Sox went back on the offensive, scoring seven runs over the next two innings to regain a hefty 20-13 lead.
The Blue Jays didn’t go away quietly, scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth, but it would be too little, too late and the Red Sox held on for the Championship crown, 20-18.
