Commissioners discuss controversial agenda

John Coffelt, Editor

During a work session held on the eve of two controversial votes to be held Tuesday, May 13 at 6 p.m., all but three county commissioners discuss the upcoming agenda.

The two significant topics to be decided Tuesday will be an amendment to the zoning resolutions to make limitations to lot sizes in A-1 agricultural zones in major subdivisions to 5 acres. Minor subdivisions less than 5 acres may be allowed by variance.

An appointment to Board of Zoning Appeals, the body that makes decisions concerning variances, is also on the agenda.

The other controversial topic on the agenda is an resolution abolishing the constable position. That item will require two votes at consecutive meetings with two-thirds the members voting yes.

Prior to or at the beginning of the meeting, the county attorney will pull the commission aside into a closed-door executive session to (presumably) discuss pending or ongoing litigation against the county.
