Lady Raiders swept by Lincoln County
S
The Lady Raider softball team celebrated their seniors on Thursday night, but suffered their first home loss of the season in a 3-1 decision to the Lincoln County Lady Falcons at Terry Floyd Field.
For the first two innings, the game was a battle of defensive prowess. Each team rattled off three quick outs in the first inning and in the second inning, neither team could advance past first base.
Lincoln County would be the team to break the ice in the top of the third with Mattie Graham flying in from second base on a fielding error by the Lady Raiders. A few batters later, Brinley Moran hit a line drive single to send in runner Hana Corder and the Lady Falcons assumed a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, the Lady Raiders put two runners in scoring position, but Lincoln County escaped the third inning with their two-run lead still intact.
The Lady Falcons then pushed their lead to three in the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run hit by starting pitcher Brenna Edwards.
Wanting to avoid a shutout on Senior Night, Coffee County finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning with Jalyn Moran scoring on Paisley Campbell’s eighth double hit of the year, but the Lady Raiders couldn’t find any more answers and suffered their second loss in district play, 3-1.
