CCHS had two wrestlers place in the TSSAA State Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22, with Ellysia Jennings placing third in the girls 185-pound weight class and Jianna Bare placing sixth in the 145-pound division.

Jennings started the tournament off right, defeating Bartlett’s Morgan Ragsdale by a fall in the first round, but in the quarterfinals, Jennings would lose in a 14-3 major decision to Blackman’s Jonna Patterson.

Relegated to the consolation bracket, Jennings worked her way through to the Third Place Match where she would face Northwest’s Tyrenoria Munene and win in a 7-1 decision to claim the third step of the podium.

Jiana Bare would be the only other wrestler to place for Coffee County in the tournament with a sixth place finish in the girls 145-pound division.

Bare would lose her first round matchup to Shelby Williams of Gibbs in a 14-11 sudden victory, but then fight her way through the consolation bracket to place sixth after losing in the consolation semifinals to Ali Bryant of Blackman by a fall and losing the Fifth Place Match by a fall to Kemoria Turner of Cleveland.

Jasmine Norris (120) also represented Coffee County in the girls tournament, but her tournament would end in the first round of the consolation bracket.

Aiden Lindsay (126), the lone representative for the Red Raiders in the Class AA Boys Tournament, would lose his first round bout with Hayden Hunt of Green Hill in a close 3-1 decision and his tournament would in the third round of consolations with a loss to Kaden Clopton of Science Hill in an 8-5 decision.
