Carter, Watson set Manchester shows for May

On Fire Concerts is bringing two popular Country artists to the Manchester stage this summer.

Deana Carter will be playing at the Manchester Coffee County Conference Center on May 16 at 7 p.m.

Carter’s hits include “Strawberry Wine,” the title track to her debut album “Did I Shave My Legs for This?” and “We Danced Anyway.” The first two songs earned her Grammy nominations for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance.”

Karli & James will be special guests at the show. The duo plays what their website refers to as “a distinct blend of pure Country music and indie rock.”

At the same venue, Grand Ole Opry member Gene Watson will be bringing over 60 years of experience to the Conference Center stage on May 24.

Known as “The Singers Singer,” he boasts such hits as “Fourteen Carat Mind,” “Farewell Party” and “Love in the Hot Afternoon.” Watson is also a member of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and the Houston Music Hall of Fame.

Watson’s opener for the concert will be Sara Simmons, a seasoned and hard-working artist who has opened for Country singer John Conlee in the past.
