Manchester recommends two for 911 Board vacancies

The Manchester Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted During the Feb. 4 meeting to offer two names that would fill vacancies on the Coffee County 911 Communications Board.
Dr. Vanessa Green and Neal Simmons were the nominations.
“We are in a joint venture with the county and Tullahoma,” Hobbs said. “The breakdown of the board is Manchester has four seats, Tullahoma has three seats and the rural (county) has two seats. This is a county mayoral appointment, but in a joint venture you do get a seat at the table. We will be asking the County Mayor and the Commission to accept our recommendation.”
The appointments were originally on the Coffee County Commission’s Jan. 14 meeting agenda but were pulled with a motion to amend the agenda.
“I don’t know that we’ve given Manchester their chance to give their say-so on who gets appointed on the Manchester seats,” Commissioner Tim Brown said. “I would like their input before we appoint anybody.”
Commissioner Joseph Hodge, who seconded the motion to amend, asked County Mayor Dennis Hunt if he had conferred with the city concerning the appointment.
Hunt said that the Tennessee Annotated Code specifically says the appointment is to be made by the county mayor.
