The Coffee Middle Lady Raiders claimed the 3A Area 6 Championship on Thursday night with a 41-21 victory over Harris in Manchester.

Before meeting Harris in the championship game, the Lady Raiders defeated Warren County 58-27 in the semifinals for their 21st win of the season. In the other semifinal game, Harris defeated Whitthorne in a 46-10 blowout, setting up a Coffee County-Harris battle for the Area Title.

The Lady Raiders would jump out to a good start in the first quarter, outscoring the Eaglettes 15-2 with the help of three triples from Brylyn McAdams.

Harris would not go away quietly in the second quarter, as the Eaglettes forced several turnovers and outscored Coffee 12-7, but the Lady Raiders still held an eight-point advantage at the half, 22-14.

Out of the halftime break, Coffee County’s defense would come back strong, allowing only two points in the third quarter and five points in the fourth while Jenslee Nogodula’s 15 second half points helped propel the Lady Raiders to a 41-21 victory, sealing an Area Championship title.

“I’m very proud of these girls,” said Coach David Vinson. “Like I’ve said before, it shows how much hard work they’ve put in. All the credit goes to them. They hate to lose, and they weren’t going to lose this one tonight. My hat goes off to Harris, they took us out of the game in that second quarter, but then we made some adjustments at the half and played them the way we were capable of playing. We have a week off before we go to sectionals and we’re all looking forward to moving on to the next round.”

The 22-0 Lady Raiders will take on the No. 3 seed from Area 7 in the 3A Section 2 Quarterfinals, which will take place at Stewarts Creek Middle School on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at approximately 7 p.m.
