Waymon Simmons, age 87, passed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024.  He was born in Hillsboro to the late Mance and Dora Boyd Simmons. Waymon worked at the Manchester Police Department and Coffee County Sheriff’s Department. Waymon also worked at Batesville Casket Company, PCA and his own upholstery shop.  Waymon also served in the United States Army at Fort Jackson South Carolina.  He was a member of Red Hill Church of Christ. Waymon is preceded in death by his wife, Betty McCullough Simmons; and siblings, Walter, Valis, Howard, JD, Frances (Brown), and Ross Simmons. He is survived by two children, Neal Simmons (Jennifer) and Shelly Johnson (Troy); two granddaughters, Brittney Johnson (Levi Crabtree) and Megan Johnson; and three great granddaughters that adored him, Eleanor, Ryanne, and Charleigh Crabtree. The family received friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3  and from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at Manchester Funeral Home, 786 McMinnville Highway.  A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 in the chapel with Mr. Ralph Hart and Mr. Bob Taylor officiating.  Waymon was laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
