Red Raiders battle back with win over Colts

On Saturday, the CCHS Red Raiders closed out the Jeff Taylor Classic with a 48-17 win over Glencliff at Tullahoma.
After losing their tournament opener against GCA on Friday night, the Red Raiders were looking to bounce back with a win over the Glencliff Colts, a team that placed fourth in the 3A District 10 Tournament last year.
The Red Raiders had a slight edge in the first quarter, outscoring the Colts 10-6, then Coffee County erupted for 22 points in the second to help rack up a halftime lead of 32-11.
Coffee County’s defense kept the Colts to just six points in the second half, which allowed the Red Raiders to pull away with a 48-17 win.
With the victory, the Red Raiders improve to 5-5 on the season.

After Christmas, the Red Raiders will travel to Scottsboro High School in Alabama for the Don Webb Classic with their first game taking place on Thursday, Dec. 26 against Kate Duncan Smith DAR School at 1:30 p.m.
The two teams met in last year’s edition of the tournament with the DAR Patriots winning the previous matchup, 72-66.
