Lady Raiders win two more in Thanksgiving Classic

On Saturday, the CCHS Lady Raiders picked up two more wins on the season with a 90-54 victory over Ensworth and a 58-28 win over Stewarts Creek in the Bearette Thanksgiving Classic at Bradley Central High School.
Vs Ensworth Lady Tigers
For their first game of the day, the Lady Raiders were pitted against Ensworth, who were coming off of an 84-33 loss to the host Bradley Central Bearettes on Friday night.
Both teams went back and forth at the start, but the Lady Raiders built a 10-point lead after the first quarter of play, 23-13. Natalie Barnes paced the Lady Raiders in the first quarter with 11 points
The Lady Raiders would add to their lead in the second quarter, going on a 17-7 run in the first four and a half minutes.
With 2:10 left in the quarter, senior Channah Gannon checked in to play her first minutes of the season, and the Southern Indiana-commit immediately made an impact, scoring eight points in the final minutes of the quarter to help the Lady Raiders compile a 50-27 lead at the half.
“I felt really good out there,” said Gannon. “It’s good to be back.”
Coffee County would outscore the Lady Tigers 40-27 in the second half and pull away for a 90-54 win.

Vs Stewarts Creek Lady Red Hawks
For their second and final game of the tournament, the Lady Raiders would face Stewarts Creek, who had beaten one of Coffee County’s district rivals, Lincoln County, 54-44 on Friday night.
The Lady Raiders had the edge at the start, outscoring the Lady Red Hawks 17-7 in the first quarter.
Coffee County would go on a 10-2 run in to start the second quarter before racing out to a 40-17 lead at the half.
Stewarts Creek would battle back in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Raiders 11-6, but Coffee County still led 46-28 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Raiders would shut out the Lady Red Hawks 12-0 in the final frame, sealing a 58-28 win.
“I felt good about our effort, especially after playing two games in a day,” said Cope. “The team we just beat (Stewarts Creek) won against Lincoln County last night, so that was a good win. With Channah back, we’re a totally different team. She clogs up the middle, she had a couple of good blocks today and she brings a whole new dimension to our team.”

The Lady Raiders improve to 5-0 on the season and will return home to host Franklin County on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
