On Wednesday evening, Lady Raider senior Channah Gannon officially signed her letter of intent to further her basketball career with the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles.

Gannon, named to 4A District 9’s All-District and All-Tournament teams last year, previously announced her commitment to USI back on Saturday, Aug. 17 with a live announcement on Thunder Radio’s Coffee Coaches Show.

“They have such a family-like atmosphere there,” said Gannon. “My sister’s there, everyone knows her and she’s a big part of it. The coaching staff and people there are all amazing.”

Gannon says that she will be majoring in kinesiology when she attends the university next fall.

When she gets to Evansville, Gannon believes that she won’t have a hard time fitting in with the USI team.

“I can see myself fitting in really well there,” she said. “They play inside-out and the post is always touching the ball on offense so I’m really excited about the opportunity.”

Before she can move on to the next level, Gannon and her Lady Raider teammates will try to make it back to the State Tournament in her senior year.

“I’m really excited,” she said. “We have those expectations to get back to state and our team is like a family and I would like for us to get back there and win it.”
