Lady Raiders bounce back with Shelbyville sweep

After being swept by Columbia on Tuesday, the Lady Raiders responded with a 3-0 win over Shelbyville on Thursday night at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.

The Lady Raiders took command in the first set, running out to a 14-8 lead before Shelbyville called a timeout. Coffee County outscored Shelbyville 11-3 after the timeout to win the first set 25-11.

Shelbyville showed some fight in the beginning of the second set with the score being tied at 5-5 early on, but the Lady Raiders dominated the rest of the set to win 25-15.

Coffee County would finish things off in the third set, throttling ahead 13-1 at one point before winning 25-15 for a 3-0 match win.

Rylee Clark and Savannah Cooper each had five aces for Coffee County while Morgen Spears compiled eight kills and Rileigh Russell collected 14 assists.

With the win, the Lady Raiders improved to 5-2 on the season with a 4-0 mark at home.

Coffee County will take part in the Rocky Top Classic in Sevierville this weekend with their first game taking place against Asheville (NC) on Friday, Sept. 6.
