Red Raiders shutout by Gladeville in home opener

The Coffee Middle Red Raiders are now 0-2 to start the season after a 30-0 loss to the Gladeville Wildcats on Tuesday night at Carden-Jarrell Field.
The Wildcats would receive the first kickoff, but would go three-and-out on their first drive and the Red Raiders would take over on their own 46.
Coffee County’s first drive would also come up empty, and the Red Raiders would punt the ball to the Gladeville 38.
Gladeville would find the end zone on their next possession, then convert a two point attempt to take an 8-0 lead with 2:13 remaining in the first quarter.
The Red Raiders would turn it over on their next drive, as the Wildcats intercepted a passing attempt just as the clock hit 0:00 to end the quarter.
Gladeville would quickly get back to work at the start of the second quarter, working their way to the end zone just 14 seconds into the period, and converting another two point conversion to extend their lead to 16-0.
Coffee County would be forced to punt on their next possession, but the snap would be fumbled, and the Wildcats recovered the ball just a few yards from the Red Raiders’ end zone. The Red Raiders would force the Wildcats to a fourth down with one yard to go, but Gladeville was still able to punch their way into the end zone for another score and build a 22-0 advantage.
The Wildcats would score again with 29 seconds left in the half, and another two point conversion gave them a 30-0 lead going into the halftime break.
The Red Raiders went backward on their first possession of the second half, throwing another interception and again turning it over in their own territory, as the Wildcats took over on the Coffee County 27.
The drive would last for the rest of the third quarter, with the Red Raiders forcing a fumble at the end of the period and getting the ball back to start the fourth quarter.
The Red Raiders would manage to get to their own 40 yard line after starting the drive on the 12, but then they turned it over on downs.
Gladeville’s last drive would last the rest of the game, and the Wildcats held on for the 30-0 win.
The Coffee Middle Red Raiders are now 0-2 to start the season, and they will not play again until Tuesday, Aug. 20 when they play host to Warren County.
