On Thursday night, the Coffee County Central Lady Raiders defeated Franklin County in a four set match at Joe Frank Patch Memorial Gymnasium.
Coffee County had the edge in the early going, building up a 7-2 lead in the beginning of the first set. Even though the Rebelettes tried to rally back, being as close as two points behind, the Lady Raiders went on to win the first set 25-17.
The second set was looking pretty even at first, with the score being tied 4-4, but the Rebelettes went on a tear, racing out to a 14-4 lead. Coffee County would not go down without a fight, slowly chipping away at Franklin County’s lead, even erasing a 24-17 deficit to tie the score at 24-24, but Franklin County still managed a 26-24 win to even the match at one set apiece.
It looked again like an even fight in the beginning of the third set with the score being 5-5 at the start, but the Lady Raiders distanced themselves from the Rebelettes and won the third set 25-18.
Coffee County would finish things off in the fourth set, winning 25-15 to take a 3-1 victory.
With the win, the Lady Raiders improved to 3-0 on the season, and their next match will take place at Lawrence County on Tuesday, Aug. 27 with JV action starting at 5 p.m.
