BAILEY

 Mary Elizabeth Bailey, 89 of Tigard, Oregon passed away on July 21, 2024 (her 89th birthday) peacefully in her sleep. A native of Plymouth, England, she was the daughter of Gwendoline and Rhodri Griffith. She was a longtime resident of Manchester Tennessee raising six children with her husband (Allan Bailey). Allan and Mary had quite the journey together. They married in 1954 and had one son (Martin) in England before emigrating to Canada where Deborah was born. In 1960, the growing family emigrated to Manchester Tennessee where 4 more children followed (Maxwell, Andrew, Matthew, and Jonathan). After the kids were grown, Mary went on to get her GED, AS degree from Motlow, and BS & MS degrees from MTSU. She worked for the chemical dependency unit at the Murfreesboro hospital for a number of years afterwards. Mary was a lifelong believer in exercise. She and Allan did the Bike Ride Across Tennessee several times. After Allan passed, Mary became a familiar sight on her daily walks around Manchester. After her 88th birthday, she decided to move to Tigard Oregon to be closer to two of her children Deborah and Jonathan. She is also survived by her daughter Deborah (Alan), sons Martin (Betsy), Andrew (Robin), Matthew (Cindy), and Jonathan (Amy), grandchildren Jenny, Ben, Sarah, Clio, Gavin and Jackson; great-grandchildren Ben, Frankie and Rashida, sisters Jennie and Lyn (Keith) and brother Tony. She was preceded in death by her husband Allan Bailey, and son Maxwell Digby. There will be no public memorial service.  The family requests any memorial donations be made to the Coffee County Public Library.
