Randolph makes TSWA All-State Track Team in discus, shot put

On Friday July 5, TSSAA 3A Discus State Champion Xavier Randolph was named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State discus and shot put teams.
Randolph enjoyed a record breaking season in his senior year at Coffee County Central High School, breaking the State Discus Record back on April 25 at the Great Eight Invitational held at Franklin Road Academy after throwing the discus a distance of 192 feet, 3 inches. The previous record was set by Joshua Sabota of Bearden back in 2018.
Randolph would also go on to win the Class 3A State Discus Championship on May 25 at MTSU’s Dean A. Hayes Stadium, throwing the discus a distance of 184 feet, 4 inches to beat Bryce Thompson of Farragut, who managed a distance of 159 feet, 1 inch.
Thompson also made the 3A All-State Discus Team, as well as Luke Ivey of Campbell County, who placed third in the State event with a distance of 158-10.
Randolph and Thompson each also made the 3A All-State Shot Put Team after Thompson bested Randolph in the 3A State Shot Put Event with a distance of 61 feet, 5.75 inches to Randolph’s 51 feet, 11 inches.
Rounding out the 3A All-State Shot Put Team is Nic Moore of Jefferson County, who placed third in the 3A State Shot Put Event with a distance of 51 feet, 8.25 inches.
