On Monday, Coffee County Middle School’s Naomi Abiose placed first in the high jump event at the AA Section 3 Meet at Creek Wood High School.

Abiose jumped a height of 4 feet, 10 inches to place first in the Sectional high jump, earning a spot at the State Championship Meet.

It will be the first State Championship appearance for Abiose, who had made an appearance in the high jump event at the Sectional Meet last year, finishing fourth.

This season, Abiose has won every high jump event that she has participated in, including the AA Area 11 Sub-Sectional, where she jumped a height of 5 feet.

Naomi Abiose will be the lone representative for Coffee County at the TMSAA Track and Field State Championships, which are scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 18 at Austin Peay State University’s Fortera Stadium.

Coffee County is also slated to play host to the CTC Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 10 at Raider Academy.
