Barlow signs with Cumberland Phoenix

On Thursday afternoon, CCCHS senior Jacob Barlow signed his letter of intent to wrestle at Cumberland University.

“After my visit to Cumberland, I still wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go,” said Barlow. “But I like Coach Hicks and the program they have there. It’s also closer to home, and that’s important because I still want to be able to watch my brother wrestle in high school.”

Barlow plans on studying in criminal justice and forensic science when he attends college next fall.

As a member of the Coffee County Red Raiders, Barlow made the State Tournament in all four years of high school, losing in the AAA 145 pound division consolation quarterfinals in 2021, placing third in the AA 152 pound division in 2022, placing fifth in the AA 160 pound division in 2023 and placing fourth in the AA 150 pound division in 2024.

“It’s been great to go out there and compete against the best in the state,” he said. “However, this offseason will really show me what I need to work on before going to the next level.”
