Lady Raiders dominate in district opener

On Wednesday night, the Lady Raiders won again in dominant fashion with a 12-0 shutout of Spring Hill.

The Lady Raiders set the tone early, scoring five runs in the first inning as Willow Carden scored on a Maggie Montgomery bunt, Taylor McBride and Madison Pruitt scored on a Savannah Cooper double, Cooper scored on a Channah Gannon double and Gannon would score on a Kara Wheeler double.

Coffee County would add another run to their score in the second inning with Carden scoring courtesy of a Riley Phillips grounder, then another in the third inning as Chesnie Cox tripled on a line drive that sent Wheeler home to make the score 7-0.

The Lady Raiders poured on another five runs in the fourth inning, as Montgomery and Phillips scored on a single from Pruitt, then McBride and Pruitt scored on a single from Cooper and Cooper would score on a Madison Waller grounder to first.

For the second straight game, the Lady Raiders won in a mercy rule, 12-0.

Savannah Cooper finished the game with three RBIs on two hits, Madison Pruitt had two RBIs on two hits, Maggie Montgomery, Riley Phillips, Channah Gannon, Kara Wheeler and Chesnie Cox each had an RBI on one hit and Madison Waller had an RBI.

Lily Norman would pitch three innings, striking out all nine of the batters she faced on 44 pitches as Katelyn Anderson threw seven pitches in one inning and neither pitcher allowed a single hit.

Next up for the Lady Raiders will be a road game at Eagleville on Friday, March 15 at 6:00 pm.
