Water’s Edge Chocolates offering a variety of locally made treats

With more than 100 items ranging from handmade chocolate sea salt caramels, chocolate covered Oreos and their own oval-shaped chocolate bars, Water’s Edge Chocolates in Tullahoma is a must see for any chocolate lover.

Owner Ginny Wilson said the company located at 206 S. Anderson St. in Tullahoma began in their home back in 2012 before it expanded to its current location.

“It felt like God called us into this business,” Wilson said. “It was November 2012 that we started it in our home, and it is a way for us to celebrate people and spread some delicious chocolate as well.”

Wilson said that while Valentine’s Day and the Christmas season are the store’s busiest times of the year, customers can find holiday-themed chocolates throughout the year as different holidays approach.

For Easter, these selections range from chocolate Easter bunnies to a chocolate automobile with a marshmallow rabbit driver. Milk chocolate eggs with a creamy peanut butter filling are just the ticket for any fan one of chocolate’s most popular companions.

“We very much are holiday specific and try to make a wide range of different offerings for that,” she said.

Wilson said the most popular item available at Water’s Edge Chocolates is its chocolate covered popcorn. The confection offers up just the right amount of sweet and salty, and it happens to be one of her personal favorites.

When it comes to new ideas, the 11-person team of employees is always looking to think outside the chocolate box, so to speak.

“We find inspiration everywhere we go really and then we just kind of test different flavors in our kitchen,” Wilson said. “I have a great team of people that will help with that and help create everything.”

One of those items is chocolate covered pork rinds.

“You either love them or you hate them,” Wilson said of the crispy treat. “But they worked and people really like them.”

While grocery stores stock just about every variety of candy and chocolate bar on the market, there is something different about buying treats from a local chocolate shop, Wilson said.

“You know where your chocolate is coming from and you know that it is fresh,” she said.

“It is also made by people who care and not machines.”

“I always tell people that we make it with love, but it is, it is our work, we work really hard to create these delicious products,” Wilson added.
