On Monday night, the Coffee County Red Raiders picked up their first win of the season in a 7-3 win at Oakland.

The Red Raiders got on the board quickly, as a Cole Pippenger double sent Jayden Fellers home for the first score of the game in the top of the first inning.

However, the Patriots scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-1 lead.

Coffee would cut the lead to 3-2 after Pippenger stole home in the top of the third inning.

Oakland remained in front until the top of the fifth, where the Red Raiders exploded for four runs. Two of those runs came from Trevor Jesse and Nate Rutledge on a Pippenger single, giving Coffee the lead 4-3, with the other two being scored by Fellers and Pippenger himself to make the score 6-3.

The Red Raiders would add another run in the seventh courtesy of Isaiah Deadman on a steal of home plate.

The Red Raiders would win by a score of 7-3 and each team had five hits apiece.

Pippenger finished the game with two hits and three RBIs, Blake Hillis and Brendon Sheppard each had a hit and an RBI and Trey Turner would add another hit.

On the pitcher’s mound, Timothy Henderson would get the win after allowing three runs on four hits, striking out seven batters on 94 pitches and five innings of work.

Pippenger would be credited with a save after pitching two innings, allowing just one run and striking out five batters on 35 pitches.

The Red Raiders will again play in Murfreesboro on Tuesday, March 12 as they take on LaVergne at Riverdale High School starting at 4:30 pm.
