Crazy Cravings offers special treats

A new treat shop, Antojo Loko or Crazing Cravings, recently opened in the newly remodeled Woodland Plaza shopping center.

Owner and head baker Laura Martinez said that whether you’re craving something salty, sweet, sour or hot she’s something that will hit the spot.

The store, a playful take on the Spanish words for crazy cravings, is Martinez take on some of the treats she would crave after school as a girl. But the local restaurants wouldn’t seem to want customize her order.

“I want to make something to please the people,” Martinez said.

Martinez said that often Hispanic people want to go out for dessert after a good meal.

“At lunch time they would have vendors at school. This is something that reminds me of that,” she said.

Antojo Loko has salty, spicy treats like Mexican street corn bowls, elote (corn on the cob rolled in cheese and mayo. Or add a little loco with elote with crushed spicy Cheetos.

Antojo Loko offers a ramen cup with cheese, Cheetos on top and the side and a wild take on nachos with pork rinds, tajin and sauces on Tostados chips or Doritos.

For dessert, there’s traditional fare like cheesecake and ice cream, or Loko favorites like tres letches, strawberry with cream, fruit cups and tri-flavored Mexican gelatin.

Ice cream flavors include Oreo, cheesecake, mango, lime and strawberry.

Antojo Loko is open noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
