Red Raiders fall to Falcons

On Wednesday night, the Coffee Middle Red Raiders tried to erase a large deficit against the Stewarts Creek Falcons, but a big sixth inning fueled the Falcons to an 11-6 win.
The Red Raiders would score the game’s first run in the top of the first inning as a Jaxon Pruitt sacrifice fly was enough to send Augie Lynch home for a score, but the Falcons scored six runs in the bottom of the first to take a commanding, 6-1 lead in the early going.
Coffee County went to work in the second inning, scoring two runs on a single by Lynch that sent Kanon Creek and Tanner Daugherty home to make the score 6-3.
After a scoreless third inning, the Red Raiders scored another run in the fourth inning from Creek after the Falcons walked Mason Floyd with the bases loaded, cutting the Falcon lead to 6-4.
The Red Raiders scored again in the sixth inning with Ethan Arnold after the Falcons balked, and the Red Raiders were just one run behind, 6-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Stewarts Creek had gone scoreless after their six-run first inning, but the Falcons exploded for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to lead the game 11-5.
Coffee County would score one more run in the top of the seventh as a Daugherty single allowed Landyn Stiefel to score, but the Falcons held on for the 11-6 win.
Lynch would be credited with the loss on the mound, pitching three innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, striking out five batters and walking two on 83 pitches.
Arnold pitched two innings in relief, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out four batters on 47 pitches.
The Coffee Middle Red Raiders are now 3-3 on the season and their next game will be at Blackman on Friday, March 15 at 4:30 pm.
