On Monday night, the Lady Raiders fell to Forrest, 4-2, the Lady Rockets lost in their opener to Cascade, 3-1 and the Westwood Rockets picked up a win at Cascade, 8-3.

The Lady Raiders scored first in the first inning to lead 1-0 early, but the Lady Rockets scored one run apiece in the second and third innings to lead 2-1 through three innings played.

Coffee County tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Forrest scored again in the third inning to retake the lead, going on to win, 4-2.

Forrest also had the edge in hits, 7-3.

For the Lady Raiders, McKenzie Shelton would score one run and register a hit, Taley Hardin scored a run, Genna Sadler had an RBI on one hit and Briley Jernigan also had a hit.

On the mound, Jernigan pitched four innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five batters on 52 pitches while Briley Apicella pitched three innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out two batters on 63 pitches.

The Lady Raiders are now 1-1 to start the season.

Westwood Lady Rockets: 1, Cascade Lady Champions: 3

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Champions scored two runs in the top of the second inning to lead 2-0 before Westwood scored in the bottom of the second to make the score 2-1.

Cascade would add another run in the fourth to lead 3-1 and the score would stay the same through the rest of the game.

Addi Teal scored the only run for Westwood while Channing Gannon and Annie Carden both registered a hit.

Maddi Scott pitched all seven innings, striking out nine batters.

Westwood got off to a great start, scoring the game’s first run in the first inning and they never looked back, scoring two runs in the fourth inning and pouring on five more in the sixth inning before going on to win, 8-3 and outhitting the Champions 7-2.

Brady Christian scored two runs and batted in three more for Westwood on two hits, Trey Sullivan scored two runs and had one RBI, Tucker Linzey scored one run and batted in another on one hit, Mason Hastings had one run and a hit, Jaythan Finchum scored a run and CJ Chavis registered a hit.

Linzey pitched five innings, allowing just one run and one hit, striking out three batters on 72 pitches and earning the win.

Christian pitched two innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out four batters.

The Westwood Rockets are now 2-2 on the year.
