Coffee County Swimmers finish well at Regionals

On Friday, the MTHSSA Region Championships were held at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, Tennessee and several of Coffee County’s swimmers had top 20 finishes.
For Coffee County Central, three swimmers participated in two events of their choosing.
Elsie Lazalier placed 16th in the women’s 500 yard freestyle event and 24th in the 100 yard breaststroke event.
Abby Gilday finished 60th in the women’s 100 yard freestyle event and 88th in the 50 yard freestyle event.
Jack Stowe placed 20th in the men’s 100 yard butterfly event and 41st in the 50 yard freestyle.
Lazalier and Gilday were joined by Sadie Hockett and Ansley Beachboard in two of the women’s relay events with Coffee County Central, placing 33rd in the 200 yard freestyle relay and 36th in the 200 yard medley relay.
The Coffee County girls placed 35th out of 75 schools in the overall team scores while the boys placed 37th.
Grace Academy had six swimmers represent them at the Regional meet.
Bethany Ashburn placed 32nd in the women’s 100 yard butterfly and 67th in the 100 yard backstroke.
Rosalea Buchanan placed 12th in both the women’s 200 yard and 500 yard freestyle events.
Jaci Howlett finished 25th in women’s 200 yard individual medley and 41st in the 100 yard backstroke.
Addison Yates placed 19th in the women’s 50 yard freestyle and 21st in the 100 yard back backstroke.
Ryan Brown came home ninth in the men’s 500 yard freestyle and 15th in the 200 yard freestyle.
Isaac Lee won the men’s 200 yard freestyle and placed second in the 500 yard freestyle.
Grace also took part in the women’s 400 yard freestyle relay event, placing 10th.
The Grace Academy girls placed 20th in overall team scores while the boys placed 16th.
