Rockets run out of gas, fall in State Tournament

On Saturday, the Westwood Rockets fell behind quickly to the Walter J. Baird Blue Devils, losing in the semifinals of the James C. Haile State Tournament.

Westwood had a hard time getting off the ground in the first quarter, as the Blue Devils sped to a 17-4 lead.

The Blue Devils continued to roll in the second quarter, outscoring Westwood 13-6 for a 30-10 halftime lead.

The Rockets and Blue Devils each scored 13 points in the third quarter and the score heading into the fourth quarter was 43-23 in favor of the Blue Devils.

Westwood outscored the Blue Devils 18-14 in the fourth, but the early hole dug by the Rockets proved to be too much as the Blue Devils held on to win 57-41.

The Westwood Rockets finish the season with a 19-3 overall record, having won both the DRVC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
