Mr. George Willard Mills, age 89, of Manchester, passed from this life Friday, Dec. 23, 2023, at his residence. Mr. Mills was born in Sparta, Tenn., to his late parents Dee Herschel Mills and Eliza Ann Judd Mills. Mr. Mills was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in 1958 and then went on to serve his country in the United States Army, having served in the Army for two years and National Guard for 12 years. After his Army years, he came home and owned many businesses throughout the years including, Mills Furniture, Bill’s Liquors, Manchester Car Wash, Manchester Laundry, Tullahoma Laundry and Car Wash, and Mills Floor Covering. Mr. Mills was an avid golfer, loved water skiing, and was a member of the Lakewood Golf and Country Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joe Mills, Bill Mills, DC Mills, Sue Pinger, Carrie Price, Lelwean Vaughn, and Arnold Mils. Mr. Mills is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrl Mills; son, Kirt (Priscilla) Mills; sister, Ruby Mills Hires; granddaughter, Alyssa Sebastian; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, from noon until 2 p.m. at Central Funeral Home in Manchester. Memorial services were conducted immediately following visitation at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Buddy Dicus officiating. Burial will follow at Shellsford Cemetery in McMinnville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
