MCMAHAN

Janice Carole Bryan McMahan, Carole as she was fondly known by family and friends, was born on Feb. 6, 1945, to the late Leon and Verde Sartain Bryan, in Hillsboro. She was a long-time member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and worked as a training administrator at AEDC until her retirement. Carole enjoyed gardening, yard work, flowers, bird watching, but her greatest joy came from babysitting her beloved grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Carole is preceded in death by her siblings, Bob Bryan, Edwin “Eddie” Bryan, Dorothy Winton, Charlotte Hartman, and Ann DeBerry; in laws, Granville McMahan and Bob DeBerry. She is survived by her loving children, Eric McMahan and his wife, Callie, and Yvette Parsley and her husband, Paul. Carole was Grammy to her grandchildren, Caroline and Max Parsley, and Edith and Walter McMahan. Also surviving are her brother, Wayne Bryan (Pat), sisters, Violet McMahan, Sandra Simmons, Sylvia Wheeler (Jim), Sharon Elam (Mervin); sister-in-law, Sarah Bryan; many extended family members, and a host of friends. The family would like to acknowledge the loving care given to Carole by Sandra Lyle, Mallory Cox, and Jaslynn Gunter. A Celebration of Life was held in memory of Carole at Manchester Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 12 at 4 p.m. Visitation with the family was at 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A private family burial was held at Shady Gove Cemetery at a later date. Carole passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday after an extended illness. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in memory of Ms. Carole to the Dusty Elam Foundation.
