Martha “Matilda” Clark Locke, age 102, of Manchester, went to be with her heavenly father on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023.  She was born May 13, 1921 in Winchester to the late R.M. and Dasie Mae (Holder) Clark.  Besides her parents, Matilda is also preceded in death by her husband, W.G. “Johnny” Locke, great grandson, Ward Anderson and siblings, Evaline Holder, Eunice Rose, Myrtle Jackson, Lois Dean, Georgia Reynolds, Joe Clark, and Robert Clark, Jr. She was a longtime member of Manchester First United Methodist Church. Matilda is survived by her children, Billy Locke (Joyce), Janie Casey (John), Melissa Cope, and Sandy Matlock (Fred); grandchildren, Travis Locke, John ‘Jay’ Newton Jr., Julie  Newton, Erin Brown (Owen) , Emily Cope, and Daniel Cope (Madisen); great grandchildren, Gray Anderson , Leo Anderson, Jack Anderson (Cayce), Matthew Newton, Harrison Brown, and Reid Brown. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29 at Coffee County Funeral Chapel.  Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Stephen Lee Officiating. Interment followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
