Red Raider Wrestling boys beat LaVergne but lose to Blackman, girls beat Blackman

On Tuesday, the Red Raider wrestling team boys picked up a win over the LaVergne Wolverines, but couldn’t overcome the Blackman Blaze and the girls picked up a couple of exhibition wins over LaVergne and a dual win over Blackman.

The Red Raider boys defeated LaVergne pretty handedly, with Sean Sanders, Tommy Miller, Ian Walker, Joel Cruz-Martinez and Jordan Spry all picking up wins by a fall, with Giddian Mascari, Austin Green, Jacob Barlow and Zachary Warrick picking up wins by a forfeit.

Clayton Centeno, Owen Shelton and Eli McLean would all lose by a fall and LaVergne would pick a forfeit win, but the Red Raiders won the match, 54-24.

Against Blackman, the Red Raiders did not fare quite as well.

For Coffee County, the only one to win a match against the Blaze was Barlow, who won by a major decision.

Walker and Cruz Martinez would lose their matches by a decision, Green would lose by a technical fall, Mascari, Centeno, Sanders, Shelton, McLean, Warrick, Miller and Spry would all lose by a fall and Blackman would also pick up a forfeit win to beat the Red Raiders, 65-4.

In the meantime, the Red Raider girls picked up a couple of exhibition wins over LaVergne, with Jasmine Norris and Ellysia Jennings winning by a fall as Payton Robertson and Sara Crosslin both lost by a fall.

The Red Raider girls would also pick up a dual win over Blackman.

Payton Robertson, Jade Lenhart and Ellysia Jennings would all win by a fall, Jasmine Norris won by a decision and Estrella Armeta won by a forfeit.

Sara Crosslin would lose by a decision, Gabriella Silva and Jianna Bare would both lose by a fall and Blackman would pick up two forfeit wins, but the Red Raider girls won on a tiebreaker, 28-27.

The next match for Coffee County Wrestling will be a road match at Siegal with Shelbyville.
